Founded in 2025, Smiling Coast Dialysis Center Limited (Registration No. 2025/C25061) and Sunrise Dialysis Foundation (Registration No. 2025/C25062) were born out of the shared frustration of our directors, Thomas Brempong and Momodou Musa Bah, with the severe lack of dialysis care in The Gambia. Witnessing countless patients unable to access this critical treatment, they resolved to make a significant impact by establishing a dedicated dialysis facility. Fully self-funded without accepting donations so far, our center reflects their unwavering commitment to improving healthcare access for Gambians, with plans to launch operations in May 2026.
Located in the Greater Banjul Area, our facility is designed to serve 10 patients at a time daily—9 in the main treatment area and 1 in an isolation unit—with 2 backup machines to ensure seamless care. Equipped with 12 dialysis machines sourced from the USA, supported by a robust water treatment system, our center is poised to set a new standard in renal care. Our team comprises physicians, nurses, technicians, biomedical engineers, and various other medical professionals, all working together to deliver exceptional treatment and support to our patients.
Our mission is rooted in four pillars: affordable, reliable, quality, and preventative healthcare for Gambians that meets world-class standards. Smiling Coast Dialysis Center Limited ensures operational sustainability as a for-profit entity, while Sunrise Dialysis Foundation, our charitable arm, focuses on subsidizing costs and promoting community health initiatives, including education and training to build local capacity. We aim to empower our patients and community, fostering a future where kidney care is accessible to all, regardless of financial barriers.
